Start with the EU product and import framework

The European Commission’s Access2Markets tool helps buyers examine tariffs, origin rules and procedures by product, origin and destination. Select the actual oil classification and Tunisia as origin, and review the current results for the intended EU market. Do not assume a preferential rate or quota entitlement without checking the transaction.

Olive oil marketing standards and conformity checks are addressed by Regulations (EU) 2022/2104 and 2022/2105. The applicable consolidated texts and general food information requirements should be reviewed for the proposed category, packaging and market.

France: prepare consumer information in French

French official guidance requires mandatory consumer food information to be visible, legible and provided at least in French. A bottled project therefore needs a French label review covering the applicable legal designation, origin and other mandatory particulars.

Tell us your distribution channel, planned presentation and who will approve the artwork. An enquiry for a French distributor is different from bulk oil intended for further processing, so explain what will happen to the product after import.

Germany: plan the German market review

German official guidance explains that food marketed in Germany generally needs mandatory labelling in German. Review the oil designation and required consumer information with the responsible business before approving labels or preparing a retail launch.

Share the German destination, sales channel, estimated quantity and packaging preference. Keep national requirements and any relevant packaging responsibilities in the importer’s review. France and Germany are target markets for sourcing discussions; product availability, terms and documentary support require project-specific confirmation.
