A bulk sourcing project begins with the required category, quality specification and intended application. Confirm whether your business will bottle the oil, incorporate it into production or distribute it onward. These decisions influence the information needed to assess the enquiry.
Describe the receiving site as carefully as the volume. Available storage, unloading arrangements and food-contact requirements can affect the suitable packaging and handling plan. Do not select a transport format without considering what happens when it arrives.
Discuss packaging as part of the project
Drums, intermediate bulk containers and other bulk handling arrangements are examples of options buyers may wish to evaluate; they are not a confirmed list of available formats. State your preference, explain any constraints and ask what can be proposed.
Specify whether a quoted quantity is measured in litres, kilograms or tonnes. Volume and mass should not be treated as interchangeable. Include the desired purchasing frequency and explain whether the figure is a trial quantity, one shipment or an annual estimate.
Compare the complete supply proposal
A meaningful bulk quotation identifies the oil specification, packaging, quantity, agreed delivery basis and destination. Freight, insurance, customs costs and inland handling need to be allocated clearly. Compare proposals using the same scope.
